Main Street Project offers a fresh approach to poultry. With a focus on changing how food is made around the world, the Northfield, Minnesota, organization creates pathways out of poverty for rural Latino immigrants and is developing a new model for producing free-range poultry as part of a sustainable regional food system.
Main Street Project operates prototype half-acre production units, located on several Northfield-area farms. The organization is working to develop a consolidated 100-acre demonstration farm to put its model into action, expanding training programs for immigrant and new farmers, as well as experienced farmers looking to diversify their operations.
Main Street Project is focused on:
•Building a new model for regenerative agriculture
•Training the next generation of farmers
•Developing a regional food system.
•Establishing practice-based partnerships.
•Forming regeneration Midwest alliances.
