Product Commitment

Seward Community Co-op carries a wide variety of products to meet the differing needs of our shoppers. Our dedication to sustaining a healthy community leads us to emphasize the Community Foods: Values Every Day program, which supports producers with at least two of these qualities:

  • Inclusive i.e. people of color, women, LGBTQIA+, disabled and/or veteran owned
  • Small scale
  • Local i.e. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa
  • Cooperative
  • Sustainable

With our history in natural foods, we remain committed to offering products with straightforward ingredients. We value organic certification to provide assurance that foods are grown and processed safely and sustainably. We also provide options to those with specific dietary needs.

As a cooperative, we believe in the power of economic democracy. Rather than discontinuing a product line during a boycott, we encourage shoppers to vote with their dollars.

Meet the Board of Directors in the Store

October 20, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Meet current board member Cassandra Meyer at the Seward Co-op Franklin store on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Come share what you love about the co-op, your questions about the co-op’s election, as well as your ideas. But most of all, just stop by to share about yourself and get to know a board member. Find Cassandra at a table in the co-op’s dining area.

Seward Co-op’s Board of Directors is comprised of nine elected co-op owners who serve the co-op for three-year terms. The board typically meets 9-10 times a year on the last Tuesday of the month, at 6:15 p.m. Meetings are open to any co-op owner, and we request you email board@seward.coop in advance of the meetings to indicate your intention to attend. This will allow us to notify you in the event of scheduling changes. Read more about board meetings here.
