Learn About Whistling Well Farm
Whistling Well Farm, founded in 1972, is an apple orchard located in the St. Croix River Valley. Former schoolteachers Carol and Charlie Johnson started the farm with a few cows and grain crops and by 1980, they began planting apple trees with their sons. Today, they grow a selection of Minnesota’s favorite apple varieties such as First Kiss, SweeTango, Honeycrisp, Haralson, and Zestar. Named for the farm’s well that whistles when the wind bounces off the St. Croix River bluffs, Whistling Well now has over 18,000 apple trees and offers autumn-time picking while also selling their apples to local co-ops, including Seward Co-op.
