Seafood Producers Cooperative Captain’s Dinner

Enjoy a tasting dinner of Alaskan seafood, with sea stories and conversation with fisher people from Seafood Producers Co-op!

Join us on Tuesday, January 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Co-op Creamery Cafe for Seafood Producers Cooperative’s Captain’s Dinner. Taste a variety of appetizers and three varieties of high-quality, line-caught Alaskan seafood from from the oldest fishers’ co-operative in North America.

You’ll hear from folks of SPC how continuing cooperation helps support Seward’s mission of equitable economic relationships for fisher people, and participate in conversation with SPC on the importance of harvest sustainability and transparency in the seafood distribution system. You’ll also take home recipes to replicate the incredible flavors of SPC’s fish in your own home!

$20; drink pairings will also be available for purchase.

Meditative Yoga: Winter Nourish Series with Samadhi Yoga

Samadhi Yoga’s mission is to provide quality yoga classes and education with inclusion and diversity at their core. Their classes and styles honor the roots of yoga while focusing on accessibility, and their staff are diverse and representative of the Seward and South Minneapolis community. Join Samadhi at the Friendship store classroom for a mellow, gentle yoga class to clear away tension, stress, and stagnant energy. All levels welcome, for every body.

Opioid overdose prevention – Narcan Training with Valhalla Place

Valhalla Place is a premier provider of addiction and mental health services in the Twin Cities. In this class presented by Stephanie Devich and Seward Co-op you will learn about local opioid trends, high risks of overdose, signs of sedation versus overdose, and how to administer the lifesaving drug Narcan in an opioid overdose situation. You will also learn the laws protecting you in case of an overdose reversal. All attending will receive a free Narcan kit to take home.

Koshiki Yonemura from Tanpopo Studio will share the skill of delicious and savory dumpling-making; mixing, rolling and shaping the dough, stuffing the filing and preparing the homemade ponzu sauce. Locally sourced ground pork is mingled together with Napa cabbage, garlic chives and ginger to make the flavorful fillings. Then these beautifully shaped dumplings are pan-fried to perfection.

Nourish 101: Roasted Poblano Corn Pudding
