Citrus Tips
- Most varieties of citrus have little to no seeds, but the amount of seeds in any specific variety will vary from fruit to fruit.
- Reduce food waste with citrus by zesting your citrus and freeze for future use. Juicing a lemon or lime or eating an orange? Zest your citrus first, then you can freeze the potent zest in a freezer safe container, for adding a hint of citrus to everything from muffins to pastas.
- Skin color is not an indication of ripeness; citrus ripens on the tree. Choose fruits that are heavy for their size for maximum juiciness.
- There are many varieties within citrus categories, and some have short windows of availability during the season. Check the shelves often for new fruit.
