Halloween Creatures made with Bulk Department Items
Treats are a must have for Halloween. Alternatives treats to wrapped candy don’t have to be plain! Use the Bulk department make some spooky snacks that are tasty yet simple! Prepare these critters with loved ones or prepare for guests your entertaining. Rats, spiders, Roaches and mice you see are all made from items easily found in our Bulk departments.
Each of the recipes below yield one critter.
Rat
1 coconut rolled date
2 slivered almonds
1 red gummy bear
1 black licorice twist
- Form date roll into a tapered point for the head and squish the body together a little to give it a rounded back and bottom
- Gently press almond slivers in to make the ears
- Cut gummy bear into tiny pieces to create the eyes
- Cut licorice in half lengthwise and then cut again to create a tail sized strip.
Roaches & Spiders
1 Medjool date
1 black licorice twist
1 goji berry
- Cut date in half lengthwise and remove pit.
- Cut licorice into small strips to be used as legs and two needed antennas for the roaches
- using a toothpick, poke holes in date where the legs will go and carefully apply legs and antennas
- Cut gummy bear into tiny pieces to create the eyes
Tiny Mice & Flies
Raisins
Sunflowers, pepitas, or slivered almonds
Goji Berries
- Using the raisin as the body, insert your choice of Sunflower seeds, pepitas or slivered almonds for the ears or wings.
- Cut a thin sliced piece of black licorice for the tail
- Little pieces of goji berry place as eyes and another for a nose for mice
