About Seeds Farm
Seeds Farm was founded in 2010 by Becca Carlson (she/her) on a half-acre of family land. Today, it is a 50-acre organic farm in Northfield, Minnesota that grows 18 acres of certified organic vegetables. Seeds Farm’s eight-person team plants and harvests over 20 different varieties of vegetables. Now in their twelfth growing season, they provide vegetables for food co-ops, restaurants, distributors, cafeterias, public schools, and food shelves.
Support Sustainable, Woman-Owned Agriculture
In college, Becca learned that one of the biggest ways we interact with our environment is through agriculture: we all have to eat, food has to be grown, and how it is grown impacts the soils in our communities. To Becca, sustainability encompasses a triple-bottom-line of not only meeting financial benchmarks, but also supporting the local economy by providing jobs and respecting the land on which the crops are grown. In an effort to stay connected with the community that purchases her vegetables and to share the beauty of the farm where the crops are grown, she hosts a dinner on the farm each month. Visitors can purchase a meal, walk the fields, and experience where their food is grown. Fostering this connection of food, people and the land is important to Seeds Farm.
