About Peterson Craftsman Meats
Peterson Craftsman Meats is a local, small-scale, and sustainable multi-generational family farm. The Petersons have farmed in the fertile St. Croix River Valley—less than an hour from the Twin Cities—for five generations. Their goal today is to farm together as they pass down the heritage and knowledge base to the next generation. Peterson Craftsman Meats raise and market heritage-bred livestock with a focus on quality, animal care, and environmental stewardship.
The Peterson’s livestock are free-raised and grazed. Regenerative agriculture best describes their animal husbandry and stewardship practices. They keep their livestock in their natural environments whenever possible; taking what the land and climate gives, while not taking it for granted. Peterson Craftsman Meats aim to build the soils of the river valley with organic matter and recycle nutrients through crop rotation and rotational grazing.
Peterson Craftsman Meats also operate their own butcher shop. This gives them the unique advantage of quality assurance throughout the supply chain–and as a result, an elevated eating experience.
