About The Good Acre

The Good Acre is a local, non-profit food hub that connects and strengthens farmers, food makers, and communities through good food. The Pohlad family started The Good Acre in 2014, with the intention to develop a multi-faceted initiative to improve the local food system for diverse, independent farmers and to increase access to healthy produce for all consumers regardless of income. Their warehouse in Falcon Heights, Minn. is a place where small-scale farmers and producers can store and package produce, flowers, and other products for commercial buyers like co-ops, schools, and more. They also run a shared-use commercial kitchen space and offer virtual workshops that support local food businesses in the Twin Cities.

Support Local Food Hubs

One acre of land doesn’t sound like much, but it’s enough to do a lot of good! Along with coolers and a kitchen, The Good Acre has a hoop house and offers one on one technical assistance to help farmers grow healthy crops and healthy soil and stay resilient in the face of a changing climate. The Good Acre partners with over 70 individual small farmers, most of whom grow on 5-acres or less and identify as BIPOC. They also partner with organizations like Shared Ground Co-op and the Hmong American Farmers Association, which share The Good Acre’s goals of building a more equitable and inclusive food system.

Creamy Daikon and Celery Soup
