Lamb Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce
Ingredients
Burger Mix
- 1 pound ground lamb from Lamb Shoppe
- ½ cup feta crumbles
- 2 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 English cucumber, grated and drained
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Zest of one lemon
- Juice from ½ lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Other Ingredients
- Burger buns
- Red onion, for topping
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Make the tzatziki: In a small bowl, combine your Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, and lemon juice and zest. Mix until well combined, then season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Make the lamb patties: In a medium sized bowl, add ground lamb, feta crumbles, chopped parsley, and seasonings. Mix together until combined while avoiding overworking the meat.
- Form the patties: Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties. Press a slight indent into the center of each one to help them cook evenly.
- Cook the patties: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook until crisp and browned on the outside with a slightly pink center, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove from heat.
- Assemble and serve: Spread a layer of tzatziki sauce onto each burger bun. Top with a lamb patty, sliced onion, and any other toppings you desire! Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the tzatziki sit in the fridge for 15–30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. You can also squeeze the grated cucumber in a paper towel first to remove excess moisture and keep the sauce thick.
