Racing Heart Farm was started in 2014 by Les and Els in Colfax, WI, and is a two-acre, no-till farm. This means they work hard to reduce the amount of soil disturbance that happens on the farm. Why? Because mechanical soil disturbance (tillage) destroys the delicate structure of the soil, upsetting the beneficial fungi and microbes that help get the plants the nutrients that they need to thrive.
Racing Heart loves growing healthy vegetables and puts the health of our ecosystem at the center of everything they do at the farm.
“Community Supported Agriculture is so much more than a weekly box of beautiful vegetables. It’s a way for you to directly support a local farmer in your area. Like many other farms CSA, at Racing Heart we offer ‘shares’ of the upcoming season’s harvest in the spring- we then become your farmer for the season! Those funds are used to buy the seeds, plants, and supplies that we need to grow diverse and healthy plants. Come harvest time your investment is returned in 16 deliveries of fresh, local, seasonal vegetables!”
