Open Arms of Minnesota celebrates 35 years of nourishing neighbors and the 10th anniversary of Open Farms!
Open Arms of Minnesota (OAM) is a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. Their mission is to nourish body, mind and soul.
In their state-of-the-art kitchen, OAM staff and more than 7,600 volunteers create meals specifically designed for clients’ nutritional needs. They use fresh and organic (whenever possible) ingredients, including produce from the gardens of Open Farms. At the urban farm OAM engages volunteers and the community in agricultural issues while providing the best nourishment possible to clients living with life-threatening illnesses. In addition to the produce grown for their kitchen, they also operate a CSA program. OAM uses organic methods and permaculture principles in the gardens to work in tandem with nature. They also use a variety of different growing techniques to maximize efficiency and space as well as techniques such as companion planting, crop rotations, cover cropping and green manure to increase productivity, build healthy soil and reduce pest problems.
By supporting OAM’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) project, you’ll enjoy healthy eating in your own home while also helping to support free, nutritious meals for Minnesotans living with life-threatening illnesses.
