Learn About Gerhard’s Brats
Growing up in Austria, Gerhard Riautschnig grew fond of his grandmother’s homemade brats, crafted with pork from animals on their farm. After moving to the United States in the early 90s, he began to miss the delicious simplicity of the brats, all of which came to a head when his father visited in 2002, built a smoker in Gerhard’s backyard, and whipped up 20 pounds of the brats Gerhard had been craving. Several years later, after getting the recipe from his father and making brats for family and friends, Gerhard began his current business of producing and selling classic Austrian brats made without wheat, sugar, or fillers.
