Fresh Earth Farms is nestled in the quiet, scenic Lower St. Croix River Valley, just 20 minutes from downtown Saint Paul. Their CSA program represents very few food miles. To Fresh Earth Farms, community supported agriculture is a business model, not just a box of produce. Every member shares in the success of the farm. All produce they grow goes to CSA members or local food shelves, not to farmers’ markets or wholesale customers. Fresh Earth Farms donates excess produce to Twin Cities food shelves and donates shares to local nonprofit organizations and schools.
Through the use of cover crops, rotations and organic inputs, Fresh Earth Farms provides nutritious, delicious fruits, vegetables and herbs while improving the soil for future generations. This sustainably grown model is central to their small-scale family farm identity.
Fresh Earth Farms’ produce selection each year is both traditional and unusual. On the one hand they strive to provide food that is familiar and comfortable for most households. And on the other hand, they also grow varieties that aren’t generally available in local stores or not typically grown in Minnesota. At Fresh Earth Farms you will find more than 30 varieties of tomatoes, 10 varieties of potatoes and 10 different varieties of garlic. Typically they grow over 150 different fruits and vegetables. Be adventurous and try something new!
“Enjoy the freshest, most delicious vegetables around — grown just minutes from your table and frequently harvested the same day you pick them up! We believe CSA is a business model, not a box of produce. All the produce we grow goes to our members (or local food shelves). There is no competition from alternative sales channels.”
