Food for the People

CSA Type: Mutual aid
The Food for the People program was founded in the spring of 2020, a month before the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent uprising. The program was founded as a collaboration between grassroots based, radical food movement: Divine Natural Ancestry and local, immigrant farmer-owned Shared Ground Farmers Cooperative.
The first two years of the program, FFTP successfully distributed 2,842 CSA boxes directly to households and community centers in our Black, Indigenous and People of Culture and working class community while paying partner farms over $80,000. All CSA boxes are free so as to prevent any financial barriers for the community to eat fresh, nutrient dense food from local farmers.
Food For The People partners with Big River Farms to source the CSAs.
“We believe access to fresh, nutrient dense food from local farmers should be a human right.”
