Harvest season is upon us, and with it comes a time for gathering together to connect with loved ones and community members. Harvest Celebrations, in particular, are a great way to celebrate the diversity within our community and learn about cultures and different rituals. Whether we take this time to pay tribute to ancestors or reconnect with cultural customs, food can unite people in celebration of inclusivity, generosity, and gratitude. Let’s make it a practice to acknowledge and honor the multitude of ways to celebrate the harvest each fall.

Throughout the month of November, SEED round-ups support the Little Earth Urban Farm, which began in 2010 to inspire hope, nurture growth, uphold cultural traditions, improve the health of Native families that have experienced generations of systemic oppression, and provide a physical cultural connection. Additionally, from Oct. 30 – Dec. 3, all Field Day products will be on sale as part of a promotion with National Co+op Grocers to support local Indigenous-led organization NĀTIFS. For each Field Day product sold, food co-ops across the country will collectively donate $0.05 to NĀTIFS to support their work to restore health, wealth, and cultural identity to Indigenous populations. Learn more here.
