Fermentation & The Microbiome: A Hands-On Workshop

September 26 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Fall is fermentation time! Join microbiome researcher and founder of The Living Food Initiative, Ky Guse, PhD, for an interactive workshop exploring the connections between fermentation, microbes, food, and human health. We’ll discuss the science and cultural history of fermentation, while creating our own tasty sauerkraut.

This workshop is designed for curious beginners, food and science lovers, and anyone interested in learning more about the invisible microbial worlds that shape both our environments and our bodies. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of fermentation and the microbiome, practical skills for home fermentation, and will create a sauerkraut with herbs and spices to take home. Through conversation and hands-on learning as a community, this workshop invites us to think differently about health, ecology, and our relationships with the microbial world.
