Learn About ChunkChunk Ice Cream
Kristy Dirk’s ice cream sandwiches left a big impression with their debut at South Minneapolis’s Red Wagon Pizza in 2022. The joy ChunkChunk Ice Cream brought to all who ate them prompted Dirk to expand her business, and she has been making handcrafted, small batch ice cream delights with an emphasis on local partnerships and collaborations ever since.
The flour for their soft, cake-like cookies are sourced from Minneapolis-based (and fellow Community Foods producer) Baker’s Field Flour & Bread, and the rBST-free dairy used to create their rich, flavorful ice cream comes from Iowa’s Kalona Creamery. Dirk’s dedication to supporting local businesses and their high quality, natural ingredients shine through in ChunkChunk’s products. As she states, “We use high quality, natural ingredients because we believe that’s the starting point for any treat worth eating.”
The love and care Dirk puts into her made-from-scratch ice cream recipes is apparent in every bite. Her frozen treat flavors range from Birthday Cake ice cream sandwiches to Chocolate Caramel Pretzel ice cream bars, but Dirk says to stay tuned for even more flavors coming out soon!
