About Better Greens LLC
Immigrant farmer Funwi Tita saw a disconnect between what was available on store shelves and the culturally significant vegetables that remind many African immigrant families of home. He wanted to reconnect his communities with foods that both nourish the body and honor heritage, so he founded Better Greens LLC in 2016 in Buffalo, Minn. It all began with just a few small plots of African vegetables, but it’s now a mission-driven enterprise supporting immigrant farmers, promoting sustainable agriculture practices, and bringing fresh, meaningful food to schools, food shelves, co-ops, and more.
At the heart of Better Greens is Funwi’s deep commitment to communal health, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment. Selling to places like Seward Co-op helps small-scale farms like Better Greens prioritize their community values. “With co-ops, the conversation is about more than transactions. It’s about people, justice, and nourishment,” says Funwi.
