About Better Greens LLC
Immigrant farmer Funwi Tita saw a disconnect between what was available on store shelves and the culturally significant vegetables that remind many African immigrant families of home. With a goal to reconnect communities to foods that both nourish the body and honor heritage, he founded Better Greens LLC in 2016 in Buffalo, Minn. in 2016. What started as a few small plots has grown into a mission-driven enterprise that supports immigrant farmers, promotes sustainable growing practices, and brings fresh, meaningful food to schools, food shelves, co-ops, and more.
At the heart of Better Greens is a deep commitment to community health, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment. Selling to places like Seward Co-op helps farms like Better Greens prioritize their community values. It’s not just a business relationship; it’s a shared vision. “With co-ops, the conversation is about more than transactions. It’s about people, justice, and nourishment,” says Funwi. Co-ops prioritize sustainability and connection, offering the kind of support that allows small, local farms like Better Greens to truly thrive.
