During this time of “shelter in place/stay at home,” Mobile Outreach Outdoor Drop-In (MOODI) offers hospitality, community care, nursing and outreach services daily between 1-3pm at Peavey Park to homeless, unsheltered homeless and housing insecure individuals and families.
Our effort is a collaboration between many community groups and agencies. Guided by the people from the Cultural Wellness Center, Southside Harm Reduction, along with community volunteers, health, and homeless outreach workers. We are grounded in mutual aid and cultural wellness approaches to moving from race to culture and community healings.
The MOODI model is created by partners who have joined forces over the years to reverse the practice of individualism, loss of community, and loss of culture. Our response to Covid-19 is to show up in community, practice physical distancing and share resources of basic needs, hospitality, including cultural and spiritual resources because we know that in this time we must unite.
We also hope to expand this care to basic needs delivery to unsheltered homeless encampments and to at risk for homelessness families and individuals isolated during this time.
Please join us in these community care efforts by donating supplies, gift cards, and money or by volunteering on or off-site.
