The Lacewings are an acoustic duo drawing from deep roots of women’s folk music from Europe and North America. Katherine Parent is a resident artist and activist at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and completing a PhD in History at Luther Seminary, studying the history of Lutherans and race in the Midwest. Sarah Larsson studies folk music from Eastern Europe, performs in The Nightingale Trio, and is a 2018 recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant, and 2019 recipient of the State Arts Board Folk & Traditional Arts grant. The duo imagines themselves in old shoes: folk music interwoven with stories of women working, learning together, and making a life through art.
