“Farm to Studio” is a workshop series exploring how food waste can be transformed into unique, natural art materials.

In this hands-on workshop, join Chowgirls and Lara Cornell to make a Purple Sweet Potato and Beet Hummus and learn how to transform the scraps from beets and purple sweet potatoes into beautiful, sustainable art materials. This class will guide you through the process of extracting pigments, mixing your own paints and inks, and exploring their artistic potential. Leave with your own handmade paint and the knowledge to continue this sustainable practice at home!

DIY Soap Making for Mother’s Day

Join Longfellow Soap owner John Hanson to learn how to make your own customizable soap. Make one for yourself or to gift to any mother-figure in your life; or bring them along and learn how to make soap together in this hands-on DIY class!
Students will also receive a free silicone mold and manual at the class.

Canning 101: An Introduction to Water Bath Canning (Strawberry Rhubarb Jam)

Whether you buy your favorite produce in bulk at the farmers market or grow your own bounty, canning is a great way to make sure nothing goes to waste. In this class, we’ll be making and canning strawberry rhubarb jam.

Join Hennepin County Master Gardeners and Certified Food Preservation Consultants Mary Webber and Taylor Tinkham for an introduction to canning. You’ll learn about canning equipment, safe canning practices and techniques, and see a full demonstration of the canning process with lots of opportunities to ask questions along the way. You’ll leave with tons of resources and the confidence to start stocking your shelves at home!
